Our History:

Shaner Sportsman’s Club (SSC) was founded in 1932, by sports and outdoor enthusiasts from the Sewickley Township, Pennsylvania. From it’s early meeting place to the present SSC has grown to its current membership of 300 plus members.

We are located on Stewart Lane, just off of Mars Hill Road, just a little over 7 miles from Irwin Pa., with 100 acres which includes a clubhouse, a rifle range consisting of a 25 yard, 50 yard, and a 100 yard range. Our club-house, shoot building and other facilities have been built through many hours of volunteer labor by active members.

The club house and grounds can be rented out to members for personal use. The club also leases several landowner properties which increases the acreage available to members to nearly 1000 acres. This available land makes great hunting grounds and also makes a great place for dog training.

In addition to the rifle ranges, the club also sports an archery range which spans from 10 to 50 yards and features an elevated platform to simulate tree stand shots. Three voice automated trap houses are also available for our member to practices every Friday night.

Shaner Sportsman’s Club is also a member of the Westmoreland Trap League. The trap team has been league champions since 1998. New shooters are always welcome. The club also periodically holds events such as 3D archery shoots, Lucky BB, and a Running Deer Shoot.

To all Members:

Until further notice the 240 acres owned by George Nassar is no longer available to club members for hunting. All tree stands should be removed. Members caught violating this recent ruling will face trespass fines by the owner and loss of membership in the Shaner Sportsmen’s Club.

With condolences to the family of James Godlesky we were informed of Jim’s passing on Friday, 12 November 2010. Services for Jim were held on Sunday and he was laid to rest on Monday. Jim was a life member of Shaner Sportsmen’s Club, Inc. and frequently visited the club to “visit” with the other long-time members. Jim’s wife Mary was the baker of the gooseberry pies that could be found on the dessert table at the club’s annual wild game dinner. Please be sure to pass along your condolences to Jim’s wife Mary.

Shaner News and Notes.

  1. The property is posted, stop by the club if you need maps of the available land

  2. The club and lease properties are closed to any. Atv or motorized vehicle! Please stop in and let the land owner know you will be hunting their property. So they know who is there. We had a problem with a member last hunting season that told a young lady that she was not allowed to hunt at Joy Declaudieo's. We just lease the property and if the land owner let's someone who is not a member hunt there any shaner memeber is not to hassle or harass anyone.
  3. We are stocking ring necks Oct. 21 starting at 3pm or 4pm and will stock the club around 5- 530 so bring out children to help stock birds at club.
