Here are picture(s) of Suzie Stefani and the cow elk she harvested during the 2007 elk hunt in Pennsylvania. She and her husband Tony were the hunter safety instructors for our club for many years before Tony’s retirement and their relocation to the mountains of Jefferson County.
The two of them planned an elk hunt in Colorado in September which had to be cancelled due to personal reasons. Suzie received quite a surprise when her name was drawn in the elk lottery to hunt here in Pennsylvania.
The flintlock rifle used to harvest this cow elk was handmade by Tony, from the barrel to the stock, including the lock and the fully functional accessories such as the patchbox. This was the same rifle she planned to use in her attempt at harvesting a Colorado elk. Their caliber of choice is .54, the hand cast maxi-ball was backed with 90 grains of FFg black powder.
